Every once in a blue moon we get a dispatch from the Land Of Weird, aka "The Maury Povich Show," purveyor of bizarre phobias like pickle phobia and peach phobia. Now another weirdo comes out of the woodwork to give us...Cotton Phobia. I love how as soon as she reveals she's had a recurring nightmare about a man made of cotton balls, Maury, naturally, brings one out. Please don't become a therapist, Maury.

The woman could have been attacked by a cotton ball monster as a child or may have choked on a cotton ball and has developed a crippling fear when she's near cotton balls. I wonder how she fares with cotton pads, or if it's just cotton balls.

My best friend isn't afraid of cotton, but she also has a physical reaction to the feel of it. She can't open the seal on pill bottles, even with tweezers. Maury's an ass. I doubt that lady was faking it.

Oh my God I totally hate cotton balls too, I wouldn't classify it as a "phobia" but I can't buy real cotton balls, I have to buy the synthetic ones. I also can't stand it if someone rubs their teeth with anything cloth, or a napkin. It makes me want to puke, I don't know why, I know it's so weird! Ew just thinking about it makes me all queasy!

this reminds me of a marketing project I did, complete with 10 minute Powerpoint presentation on a fictitious organization (Phobiphobia - Solving fear through the fear of fear) offering support for people with obscure and unusual phobias.
The focal example used in the presentation: Arachibutyrophobia. Or, simply, the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth. Probably fake, but made for a fun presentation!
